Getting Up Off The Couch 101", SRJC Alternative Fuel Vehicle Program (AUTO 190-192)
If you're not happy with our current fuel options you can either sit on your couch and complain about it, or get up and do something about it. Santa Rosa Jr. College offers four exciting alternative fuels courses that are not only innovative and educational, but one of a kind. What makes our program one of a kind is the combining of a traditional class lecture that one would find in the science department, with a hands-on shop course that one would find in our Trade-Tech department. We teach "how to" then we "do".
This year we have added an exciting new option to our list of building projects. Since the inception of the program electrical output fuels have always been a large part of the "alternative" fuel mix. This year, just in time to fuel up from Trade-Tech's new solar array, we have started a build on our very first EV. We are currently developing an EV build protocol/recipe-list, with the hopes of more quickly duplicating our EV work and expanding on the class' efforts. Come by and charge your EV from one of our four new L6-30 240 volt 30 amp single phase 2 pole AC power outlets.
